Reflections

We just returned from a week-long vacation, traveling in our RV to Texas to witness the eclipse in totality. We used to be unable to ride in a vehicle together, much less spend days together in a small space. I realized a few hours into the trip that I had taken something as simple as a vacation for granted.

Car rides used to be difficult to say the least. He was unable to tolerate noises, music, people talking. With three younger siblings, this was nearly impossible to adhere to which led to meltdowns or lashing out and eventually, avoiding the car at any time possible. Now, we have taken two cross country trips as a family with none of that same stress. I will appreciate these memories that we get to make traveling and exploring so much more.

He used my camera to grab some pretty awesome pictures and has now taken an interest in photography.

I also received my editor’s notes back on my manuscript and spent the vacation taking a break from all things PANDAS/PANS to just soak in where we are physically and in our individual journeys. The eclipse was an incredible experience and a good reminder that things can get pretty dark, but it doesn’t have to last forever.
