The best gift given to me would be forgiveness. I call it a gift because it isn’t freely given. You can ask for it, but you won’t always receive it. It often needs to be earned and worked towards. Forgiveness is something that is given with caution. It’s not passed out like candy at parties, it is analyzed and orchestrated and given with intent. It is wrapped in the gifter’s heart, delicately passed to the receiver, with quiet promises to open carefully and not to break. Forgiveness is a difficult gift to give but absolutely the best gift I’ve received.
